OK, I tried to post this in facebook, but it wouldn't work. Probably part of the vast Google conspiracy, so it probably won't work here either. Here goes anyway:
[Our soldiers] are Americans of every race, faith and station. They are Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and non-believer. They are descendants of immigrants and immigrants themselves. They reflect the diversity that makes this America. But what they share is a patriotism like no other.
Mr. President, I don't want to jump to conclusions or anything, but I have this sneaking suspicion that there just might be one member of our military who doesn't share that patriotism. Just in case I happen to be right, I would really appreciate it if you would order that all steps be taken immediately to make sure there aren't any others in our armed forces. And if I were you, I'd want to find out how this guy was still in the military after making his anti-patriotic feelings known for so long and so often. (Senator Lieberman kind of beat you to it--but it really is your job as CIC, don't you think?) While you're at it, you might consider telling the FBI not to rule out terrorism before they've even begun their investigation. I'm sure the many that Hasan unsuccessfuly tried to kill, and the families of the 13 others who weren't that lucky, would appreciate that as well. Thank you.
The vast majority of Muslims don’t conspire to kill cartoonists or murder their daughters or shoot dozens of their fellow soldiers. But Islam inspires enough of this behavior to make it a legitimate topic of analysis.
